![]() I really can't say anything negative about it. That being said, it grinds the same every time. I mainly do pour over, so I don't need to be super picky with grind size. This thing is battered and bruised but it grinds my coffee just right every single time. I actually didn't know I could take it apart to clean it until a couple of years ago. I haven't been the best at cleaning it as often as I should. I have used it at least once a day since 2005. The grinder was gifted to me by my manager at Starbucks when I moved away. Maybe pushing it a little for espresso and you should probably invest in a better machine for that, but as my first coffee grinder I would say that this has been a very reliable machine. You will need to use a grinder cleaner every few months depending on how far you like your coffee - I like a city roast so I use cleaner powder every 2 months. It's really easy to use and I like the simplicity of an on off switch - no timers here but I've come to know the grinder well and can usually switch off almost like a timer myself at the exact right dose.īe careful to also take good care of the grinder. Darker or denser beans might have me going down to one click away from minimum grind size, but I've never had to go all the way to the smallest size (paired with a Rancilio Silvia). I've been using the Encore for several years as an all purpose grinder (including espresso) and I've been really impressed by the performance of this machine.įirstly, it is not designed for espresso but it CAN pull a decent shot and has a few steps of leeway for different beans. This grinder is a must for the weekend warrior to the barista. So far, I find this a solid little machine for home use!
